CHICAGO – The runways at the famed Olympus Fashion Week in New York may garner due attention each year, but the buzz this Fall is all about another New York fashion week --- for pets, that is. To be showcased at the New York Pet Fashion Week, scheduled for Aug. 19-20, Chicago-based luxury pet couture designer, Oscar Newman created one-of-a-kind pieces as a response to the invitation-only designer event for Swarovski. Designed by artists and sisters Charisa Antigua and Carmina O'Connor, these original creations incorporate Swarovski crystal fashion components and unique design elements, and the results are stunning to say the least. "We really pushed the envelope to demonstrate what our design philosophy is all about --- embellishment and detailing typically found only in very luxurious human fashions", said O'Connor. "Swarovski recognizes the growing trend in the pet fashion industry, and they know that is where the next big market opportunity is." Antigua stated, and added "We are very honored to be a part of Swarovski's design initiative. This is definitely an exciting first in the pet fashion industry." The Oscar Newman designs will be a part of Swarovski's display during the NY Pet Fashion Week, and a second couture piece will be auctioned off at the Black Tie Fundraiser that will benefit the Humane Society of NY, ASPCA, and Animal Haven.
